Scope and content
Cartoon depicts De Gaulle, Macmillan and chancellor Adenauer of West Germany cast adrift on a back seat as President Eisenhower heads off in the front seat towards Moscow in the distance. This comments upon the talks in Geneva between the foreign ministers of the USSR, France, Britain and the US where conlcusions were not reached over east-west relations, nuclear weapons and the problem of Berlin. The US decided to try and negotiate with the USSR alone. President Eisenhower had a summit meeting with Khrushchev in Moscow, signalling that there were now only two 'superpowers' on the world stage.
