Scope and content

Shows possibly a French policitican crawling along the floor of the Sahara towards the smell of "national glory" - the words etched in the smoke of a nuclear bomb. This cartoon followed the uproar in West Africa following France's decision to ignore protests against carrying out nuclear bombs tests in the Sahara. It was feared that dangerous atomic particles could be carried by Nigeria's northerly winds.
