Transcript of a speech given by Enoch Powell at a public meeting in the Mayfair Suite, Bullring Centre, Birmingham or 23 February 1974.
In the speech Powell withdraws his support for the Conservative party in the forthcoming general election due to his lack of agreement with its decision in 1973 to enter Britain into the EEC and commit it to closer monetary and economic integration with Europe by 1980.
The transcript contains Dennis Barker's annotations, detailing changes to the speech and reactions from the audience. The transcript informed an article written by Barker titled 'Right-Left turn for Mr Powell' which appeared in the Guardian of 25 February 1973.
