The report includes: an introduction by the Chairman of the Directors, Laurence Prestwich Scott; the balance sheet and an analysis of what it shows; the profit and loss acounts and guidance on what to look for in these accounts; a breakdown of revenue and expenditure entitled 'How each £ comes and goes'; and 'Evening News -Sales and sizes' and 'the Guardian - Sales and sizes' which provides details of sales and the size of eidtorial and advertisement content. Also included for both the Manchester Evening News and the Guardian are illustrated results of surveys done by the Evening News Advertising Bureau and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising about the readership of the two papers.
