Scope and content
This is a clean copy [produced to commemorate the final use of hot metal printing in a Guardian newspaper]. Once a page had been set and corrected in metal it would be covered with a thick sheet of paper or other flexible material known as a flong, and an impression would be taken under immense pressure. From the flong a curved metal plate (known as a stereotype plate) would be moulded by the stereo department.
