Administrative/Biographical history: The selling of books reviewed or mentioned on the Guardian website had been one of the Guardian's earliest commercial online activities. Introduced by Ian Katz shortly after he took over as Internet editor in 1997 books were sold and dispatched directly from the New Media Department offices in Ray Street, London.
