Recordings of adverts produced for television. In addition to general adverts for the Guardian, the series includes adverts for redesigns and new supplements. Many adverts also promote upcoming features such as interviews with public figures or special investigations on a particular topic.

There are several different versions of some adverts and it is not always clear which is the final version. It is also often unclear which versions, if any, were broadcast.

Agencies involved in the creation of these adverts are identified where known, or where implied by the adverts themselves or by labels on the tapes. Any further information about the creators of these would be very welcome - please email: archives@theguardian.com.

Chronological. Where possible the dates of the adverts have been ascertained and the series has been arranged accordingly. However in many cases it is unclear whether the date refers to the production or broadcast of the advert, or a later compilation of multiple adverts.
