Correspondence sent to Hugo Young in his capacity as political columnist of the Guardian during 1988-1989.

The letters are predominantly from members of the public to comment on the content, views and writing of Hugo Young's Guardian columns.

Also includes letters from students asking for assistance with research, personal correspondence from colleagues, professional letters concerning work and appointments, invitations to attend events and presentations or support organisations, and internal Guardian correspondence.

There are also personal letters from friends and family, including condolences on the death of his wife Helen Young, and a biography of David Young, Hugo Young's godfather who died in 1988.
