A D'Oyly Carte Farewell
LDG/1/29/3 · Item · 21 June 1982
Part of Illustrations by Les Gibbard

Margaret Thatcher is shown aboard a ship in an old navy uniform, singing "... I polished up Trident so carefullee, That now I am the Seller of the Queen's navy!" Behind her, looking uncomfortable is Geoffrey Howe. Steering the vessel is Keith Joseph. Standing to attention are other members of Thatcher's cabinet, including William Whitelaw and John Nott. In the background an aircraft-carrier is sailing away with 'INVINCIBLE' written on the back and flying the Australian flag.

'Did the decent thing'
LDG/1/29/15 · Item · 19 January 1983
Part of Illustrations by Les Gibbard

Lord Carrington is depicted as an angel sitting upon his own grave which reads 'Did the decent thing 1982', [representing his decision to resign as Foreign Secretary following the Argentine invasion of the Falkland Islands]. A [Foreign Office member] is shown placing flowers on his grave whilst Margaret Thatcher is running towards them with a piece of paper that reads 'REPRIEVE' showing Thatcher's wish for Carrington to stay on in the role. Behind them is [John Nott] sitting on a well, hunched in his coat, suggesting that he was pivotal in Carrington's resignation.

The Falkland Fiasco
LDG/1/29/9 · Item · 6 April 1982
Part of Illustrations by Les Gibbard

John Nott stands on the end of 'The Falkland Fiasco' boat holding a piece of paper as he attempts to get the attention of other voyagers passing by. The rest of the boat is submerged under water along with the captain, Lord Carrington as there appears to be damage at the bottom of it.
