Scope and content
This cartoon shows the trials of a postman (carrying a GPO sack): first he has to carry his kids with him on his round, because as a news billboard says there is a "Teachers strike"; then prices are up at the fruit market stall "Owing to docks strike"; next he falls in a big pile of rubbish [presumably the bin men are on strike]; then he needs a torch to do his round because there is a "Power strike"; finally he himself protests, holding a placard saying "More!", only to be told by Robert Carr "Stop holding the public to ransom!"; in the final picture the exasperated postman says, "But I AM the public!".
