Scope and content
Ted Heath is dressed as a small boy, playing on the floor with a toy train and other toys around about; the train is labelled BR [(British Rail] and its string curls into the shape of 9pc [percent]; outside the window a cloud labelled "Ford" is raining money onto celebrating workers; there is also an excerpt from the poem 'Now we are Six' by AA Milne: "Let it rain! Who cares? I've a train. Upstairs, With a brake, Which I make, From a string, Sort of thing, Which works, In jerks...."; Gibbard has written under his signature "after EH Shepard".
News; 3 April: The possibility of a 16.2 per cent pay rise at Ford with almost as much again in two stages spread over the next fifteen months, threatened to set a new high threshold for wage negotiating in the engineering industry. Ray Buckton, general secretary of ASLEF, said the deal would be taken into consideration in the rail pay talks.
