Scope and content

In the first frame of this cartoon, Edward Heath encourages Robert Carr whilst he boxes with his own shadow. In the next frame they are both turned round, scared, as the shadow of a giant man, with 'Docks Strike' written in it, appears.

[News 24 June: Robert Carr, Minister for Unemployment and Productivity, met representatives of the TUC and CBI to discuss the Government's plans for industrial relations. Delegates from 88 ports voted unanimously for a national dock strike from July 14 over the port employers' refusal to raise basic wages.) [Source: British Cartoon Archive, University of Kent]
