The subject matter of this second volume (1929-1959) ranges from informing readers of new devices to household tips and ways to look after disabled people in the home.
Clippings from the Nursing Times are leaned more toward social commentaries including a clipping on the superstitious murder of twins (1929) and 'Maternity Customs of the Red Indians' (1930). Early Manchester Guardian clippings are about new devices and house hold skills such as a clipping explaining how to wash laundry by electricity (1929); repairing a windowsill (1930) while later clippings include subject matters such as women's wages (1935) and reactions to the evacuation of children during the second world war (1939). The clippings from the Morning Post are short jokes and humorous observations.
There is a folder at the back of the volume including: loose papers which include potential sources for her writings for the Manchester Guardian such as 'instructions of how to use hand embroidery needle'; portraits of Spackman (1921 and 1932); and a clipping announcing the renaming of 'Manchester Guardian' to 'The Guardian' (1959).
There is a rough chronological order throughout the volume but clippings are grouped by the newspaper written for.
