Records relating to the negotation of regular agreements between the Observer chapel of the NUJ and the newspaper's management.

House agreements were signed by the Father of the Chapel, the Managing Director (Tristan Jones / Roger Harrison) and the Managing Editor (William Millinship). The agreements covered: full time staff journalists on the Observer, the Observer Magazine and the Observer Foreign News Service. The Saturday agreement covered regular Saturday subeditors and the freelance agreement covered freelance contributors to the Observer who did not have a contract of employment.
