Illustration originally accompanying an article titled 'A retreat from God' by Karen Armstrong, published in the Guardian, 20 August 2003. The article discusses the loyalty of the Catholic church in the wake of deception and concealment reading historical sexual abuse cases. The illustration shows an image of a priest in purple robes behind a pulpit, left hand on a bible laid upside down, right hand upwards as though taking an oath. Out of the bottom of his robes is a red pointed tail. Includes newspaper cutting.
