Scope and content

Illustration originally accompanying an article titled 'What has long been a catastrophic tragedy is also now a horrific farce', by Roy Hattersley, published in the Guardian, 27 December 2006. The article discusses the British occupation army's assault on its own police force in Basra, Iraq. The illustration shows a frowning British soldier in camouflage, Union Jack present on shirt lapel, holding two marionette strings tied to himself. The wires from the marionette strings are entirely tangled. Cutting with published illustration supplied.
