Scope and content

Illustration originally accompanying an article titled 'Back to the 1950s,' by Larry Elliott, which discusses how the UK was experiencing a return to the authoritarian policies of the 1950s, including a crackdown on law and order and the ideas regarding how people should raise families and conduct relationships. The drawing depicts politicians attempting to shake hands on either side of a bridge. They are being stopped from doing so by a split in the middle of the bridge. Includes newspaper clipping.
