In the first frame of this cartoon, Edward Heath encourages Robert Carr whilst he boxes with his own shadow. In the next frame they are both turned round, scared, as the shadow of a giant man, with 'Docks Strike' written in it, appears.

[News 24 June: Robert Carr, Minister for Unemployment and Productivity, met representatives of the TUC and CBI to discuss the Government's plans for industrial relations. Fireworks are dangerous
LDG/1/1/159 · Pièce · 3 November 1970
Fait partie de Illustrations by Les Gibbard

In the top left hand corner Reginald Mauling stands in his boxer shorts with candles in both hands, one labelled 'IRA' and the other labelled 'Prods'. Below him, Margaret Thatcher stands about to set off a firework labelled 'Education' although it has an anchor round the bottom. George Brown is in the bottom left hand corner of the image running away from a firework spelling out the letters 'FO' [Foreign Office]. Anthony Barber is lighting a candle inside a glass bottle. Ted Heath stands looking over a candle that resembles Enoch Powell. Sir Alec Douglas-Home is launched a firework labelled 'SA Arms' towards a car of people labelled 'Commonwealth'. Robert Carr is depicted pouring petrol on to a firework labelled 'TUC' and Vic Feather is seen blowing his nose and running towards the TUC fire with a pail of water. John Davies is in the centre of the image letting off a firework. To the right of him is Sithu U Thant staring at some candles with the word 'Yes' erupting from them. There is a tired looking man peering over the fence.

News: 2 November: An MP called for a curb on the sale of fireworks as the danger of rubbish fires increased because of the council workers' strike.
